Blog Updates
October 17, 2007 Posted by Tyler CruzForgive me Father for I have sinned. It’s been 6-weeks since my last blog update.
Here’s a rundown of what’s new or changed on my blog during the last month-and-a-half.
New RSS Record
A week or two ago I managed to hit a new RSS record of 843!
In my opinion, increasing RSS by an average of even 50 subscribers is quite an accomplishment. It helps to mark visually the progress and success of a blog. It’s also fantastic for advertising opportunities, considering networks such as ReviewMe and PPP factor in RSS when rating a blog.
However, since reaching that milestone I’ve been jumping up and down quite a bit with a variance of around 35~ and so I’ve been plateauing in the 800-840 range lately. Hopefully I’ll get past this plateau and continue to increase though.
My new goal is to hit 900 RSS subscribers, and average 850 RSS subscribers so that I can confidently state that my blog has 850 subscribed readers.
RSS Advertising Available
While I’ve had Feedvertising available on my blog for a while now, I haven’t let anyone know about it.
Feedvertising is an RSS advertising program run by TextLinkAds.
With Feedvertising, your RSS ad will appear exclusively on the bottom of 1 out of every 6 posts on my blog within my RSS feed.
My previous price for this was $70 a month, but that was only because TLA priced it at that automatically. I’ve since got them to lower it from $70 to $30, which I feel is reasonable.
If you’re interested in purchasing RSS ads on my blog, you can order them from TLA.
Updated Windows Live Writer
I started using Windows Live Writer 6-weeks ago and fell instantly in love with it.
I still use it today, and in fact am writing in it as we speak. A few days ago I upgraded to Windows Live Writer Beta 3, and the improvements have only further attached me to the software.
There are a lot of new improvements and bug fixes, but here are the ones I care about the most:
- Insert & Embed Video easily with a new Insert Video feature
- Justify-align existing post text
- New Table feature allowing you to enter Excel-style tables, with many customizable options:
Tyler’s Example Table Sample Column Blah Blah Blee Blee Blee Blah All work and no play makes Tyler a dull boy. - Better image handling. This is by far my favourite update.. previously, uploaded images were very fuzzy.. probably in an attempt to lower their file size, but now they appear clean and crisp.
Guest Bloggers
I’m still looking for guest bloggers to occasionally submit posts on my blog. I currently have a few guest bloggers on board, but only one has been submitting posts, and I could use some more for when I’m unable to update my blog with a post.
I’m looking for good writers who can write about Internet business, design, or web development and the articles/posts must be written specifically and exclusively for TylerCruz.com.
In return, you’ll have your name attached to each post which can be linked to your own website. This is good for backlinks and a fair bit of exposure (800 RSS subscribers will be reading your posts), plus you’ll help me out
The way it currently works is the guest blogger submits a draft, and when I don’t have time to write a blog post I then publish the draft into a post on the site.
If you’re interested, please contact me with a sample post or two.
Hey Tyler,
I should be posting for you more regularly as a guest speaker. In fact I should have another one for you in the next couple of days.
I could maybe write a post or to. Check out my blog for examples of what I’ve wrote.
Clearly, “to” should be “two”. I’ve got to start checking my spelling before submitting.
