My name is Ivan Ong and I am from Singapore (a small country in Asia but highly developed and established). I’m very happy to be posting as a guest post in Tyler’s blog.
I would like to introduce myself a little to you here. I run a personal blog on CPA Marketing at http://www.Ivan-Ong.com and have been blogging about my online journey in CPA marketing for over 6 years now.
I started CPA marketing way back in 2007 when i was still in university at age 21 after being introduced by a friend about the chance of making big money online without selling anything. Things definitely didn’t go smoothly initially as i wasn’t too sure about what i was doing and i was banging walls everywhere.
However, i was very fascinated about this whole thing about CPA and the idea that i could one day be earning tons of money and not be stuck with a job and in the rat race. I poured in countless hours and time into reading up on forums and getting courses after courses on CPA marketing. I guess the thing that really differentiate me from the rest of the people is that i take massive massive action! I tried and failed, tried and failed and but i never really give up simply because i believed that this business is doable and it like the lowest start up business that you can find anywhere.
Fast forward to 2012, i have generated over US$3,000,000 in online commission solely from CPA marketing alone. Below is screenshot in one of the CPA network (W4 network) that i am using. I specialized specifically on contextual traffic using PPV and also PPC traffic.
My life was good! I live in a condominium (US$1,200,000 house, Singapore property prices are insanely expensive! lol) and driving my dream car since i was young. A Mercedes SLK200 that cost US$230,000 in Singapore. (Cars are insanely expensive too in Singapore!)
My blog started to gathered some good readership and i was getting request from people asking if i provide coaching and teaching them what i know about CPA marketing and how to generating this sort of income online. I thought why not? And so i begin taking a few student and i came out with a systematic course about everything that i know about generating income with CPA.
Results from my students were fantastic. While people on forum were mentioning that Direct Linking is dead, my students are doing 100-200% ROI on Direct linking! Direct linking is not dead, you just need to know how to make it work for you!

Every month before the beginning of every month, we would have a motivation week in my Facebook Mastermind Group whereby students would be posting their CPA income to motivate one another. This is definitely a very strong motivator when you see your fellow course mate are generating US$18,000 in net profit and why aren’t you achieving that?
We also have healthy competition to see who is doing better in terms of net profit and ROI every month. Check out the screenshot!
So all in all, my students generated $380,151.00 in the month of July 2013 alone in W4 CPA network! This is excluding other network that my students are using like Neverblue etc.

There are so many who want to make money online, way up several objectives to make it easier, start with a camera, then a smartphone, ect..
I use gmail all the time. I currently do not want my domains filled with spam, or I will go postal and start suing spammers.

To be honest i used to love reading real life Inspiring stories and Rags to Riches stories….
I think I grew very old online ( in life too ).
I have read much and heard the stories, but get nothing out of it when it comes to online marketing.
You are told a fraction, so you can pay for some 500 usd a month forum with rewashed info from re bill days long past….. none of these stories interest me anymore.
If I were to ask a basic question like
” How would you get started in affiliate marketing if you were poor” NOT ONE affiliate marketer who is making money can answer this.
The majority of readers need to hear this basic response… They come to read blogs to learn… who cares about your cars and cakes…. … i need a break from this geez
I know exactly how you feel, but actually, I’ve seen a few successful marketers answer that question.
All of the answers involve getting about 5K and using that to test and eventually build a successful affiliate campaign which makes at least $100 a day.
The only difference is that one guy will say to get a 5K loan from a bank, while another says to save it up from a job, while another will say to build it up by investing $50-$100 on POF.
there is not one person i know who is starting off in marketing in the last 4 yrs that have 5k to test when they have kids to feed.
Some people are looking for career changes. Not everyone is broke. I had money when I started affiliate marketing from my other online endeavours… but yeah, not everyone has extra cash lying around. I already wrote several times though on why I don’t think people should get into affiliate marketing if they have $0 to spend.
Phoebe, it’s difficult to really find an answer online to the question “How would you get started in affiliate marketing if you were poor”. As a poor affiliate marketer, I thought I’d share a thought with you.
One of the things that has helped me is to figure out what people need, and then find an affiliate program that matches their needs, join it, and then give them your affiliate links. Does it work all of the time? No…but it’s really cool when it does.
Another thing that has helped me is to find affiliate programs (like Amazon) and rather then putting all of the time and effort into building a niche blog or whatever, just find a way to send as much traffic as possible through those links. To be more specific, Amazon pays on whatever they buy within 24 hours of clicking your link…it doesn’t have to be a specific product. You have to be able to think outside the box on this one, but it definitely can help and can be done for little or no money.
Now that I think about it, I really should write this up as a post on my site (or guest post somewhere…). Hmm…

Yes, Singapore is a top notch country, even though in South East Asia. It has loads of Westerners who seem to prefer it to their countries. Really wonderful country to visit and even stay in.

Thanks for the response. I was an amazon affiliate in the early days- years ago.. I live in a anti affiliate state so Amazons extremely low paying program is not allowed here and I can deal with that.
There is no was for someone who has little resources who wants to get into cpa marketing. There is always offered coaching and forums that are so expensive and give little.
To start off in cpa i am thinking that a beginner ( meaning a person who has not spent thousands on advertising budget ) would need to find a very cheap source of traffic first, that has high-paying offers. That means no Google adwords and no Facebook ads.
When I ask successful CPA marketers about options, 99% ignore it or cannot answer it. If i dwell on the topic long enough, i come up with my own solutions lol
There is no secret super cheap traffic source that has high quality.
“secret” is never part of my vocabulary when it comes to making money lol.
Those words are for people who get sucked into buying info products.
The only cheap traffic ( free actually ) that I got was diverting traffic from a popular website to my offer. It made me around 11k and the affiliate network stopped coupon promotions.
That ended every penny of extra income. This is was 11k over a few years.

I also like CPALEAD and AdWorkMedia content lockers.
These are the things I am working with and not really focus on cpa offers unless I can use one for a website I have.
7search is cheap but not good with leads. You are right there is no cheap traffic that is good quality.
I will have to create it myself. This field of work is extremely depressing. I got a sad story…. Maybe I will write a Kindle Book hahahah

i think the story is quite inspiring. since it is a paid plug, it is not surprise to promote his own product. there are so many negative comments probably because that dude is an asian. (i forgot to capitalize my I and i am also using gmail for my business purpose)
