How I Gained 5,000 Friends and 260 Subscribers on YouTube in 1 Month
April 1, 2011 Posted by Tyler CruzYes, I realize that today is April 1st, but I promise you that this is not an April Fool’s day joke.
I’ve been creating videos online for a number of years now, first for the need to create content to supplement my blog posts such as screencasts, travel videos, and weight loss updates, and more recently for my Rock Band 3 Pro Guitar and Movie-Vault.com Celebrity Interviews channels.
While my Rock Band 3 Pro Guitar channel is purely a personal interest, my Movie-Vault.com channel actually offers very premium content. In fact, we interviewed Justin Bieber just last month. Love him or hate him, the fact is that he’s the hottest thing right now… um… to 13-year-old girls I mean 🙂
So, I was looking at my Movie Vault channel in late February of this year, thinking to myself “Geez… I’m paying good money to get these Hollywood interviews done, but nobody is even watching them.” At the time, on February 27th, 2011, my channel had 6 subscribers and 0 friends.
It is very frustrating to know that you have fantastic content but nobody knows about it, and so, I decided to purchase a piece of software called Tube Toolbox after hearing good things about it from Paul Piotrowski.
The Results
Instead of summarizing what Tube Toolbox is and how it works in the beginning, I decided it’d be more effective to first simply show you the results of me using it. Tools such as a Net Worth Calculator can also allow you to determine a Youtuber’s net worth if ever you’re interested.
To test it, I ran the software for about a week and a half on my Rock Band 3 account first, just in case everything I read about the software was wrong and my YouTube account got banned. If it worked, I would then run it on my Movie Vault channel.
When I started, on Feb 26th 2011, I had around 25 subscribers, and no friends. To be honest, I was actually pretty happy with that amount of subscribers… probably because it was 4x as many as my Movie Vault channel.
I ran it the software for only around 10 days, but saw amazing results nonetheless. Here is what my account looks like today with 162 subscribers and 1,174 friends:
Amazed with the results, I set Tube Toolbox to work on my Movie Vault channel.
Here’s what it looked like on February 27th, 2011:
Pretty pathetic, right? Discouraging, for sure.
For a while, I was running 2 instances of Tube Toolbox at once (you’ll need to purchase 2 separate licenses if you want to do this). Here’s what my screen looked like:
The gears of growth were turning and all I had to do was sit back and wait.
On March 12th, 2011, less than 2 weeks after starting, I suddenly had 57 subscribers and 1,204 friends:
I continued on, and on March 23rd, 2011 my channel grew to 83 subscribers and 2,822 friends:
Here’s what my account looked like yesterday, hitting the 100 subscriber milestone with nearly 4,000 friends!
So, Tube Toolbox totally works and I absolutely love it.
I only wish there was such a program for Twitter, Feedburner, etc.
Before You Ask…
I already know the questions you guys are going to ask, because I asked them myself.
Whoa, whoa, whoa. Aren’t you afraid of YouTube banning your account?
If you’re a whitehat kind of guy and like to play by the rules like me, then this was probably the first question and concern you had. It was definitely mine.
Here’s what Tube Toolbox says about this on their site:
100% YouTube Terms of Service Compliant
YouTube’s Terms of Service say that you cannot use any software that access their servers faster than a human could do in the same amount of time. In order to follow these terms, Tube Toolbox has implemented ‘Send Delays’. ‘Send Delays’ insert a period of time between each send (Friend Request, Message, comment) so that you do not access the YouTube servers too often. For example, you can set it up so that Tube Toolbox sends out a Friend Request for you, then waits 30 seconds before sending out the next Friend Request.
Basically, as long as you follow Tube Toolbox’s recommended send delays and YouTube Limits, you should be fine. Don’t be greedy and try to obtain 100 subscribers in an hour. Just sit back and let the program run in the background of your computer day after day.
I can’t guarantee that your account won’t be banned – that’s always a risk you’ll have to take, but I’ve been running it for just over a month now with no problems.
Also, there’s the fact that YouTube hasn’t done anything about Tube Toolbox; they certainly have the lawyers to do it if they wanted to. Plus, the testimonials on Tube Toolbox’s website link to the channels of various HUGE YouTube users who use the software, and they haven’t been banned.
Also, be sure to set the software to only target users who are likely to be interested in your niche. If you have a channel dedicated to gardening and invite a lot of users who are into MMA, you might get some complaints.
Are these friends and subscribers actually interested in your content?
The best part is that these are TARGETTED subscribers and friends who are genuinely interested in my channels. In fact, I never once asked or encouraged them to subscribe. All I did was set the software to send friend requests to users who fell within a very targeted niche I selected.
They decided to subscribe all on their own. That’s why the subscriber to friend ratio is so large.
Does this program really work?
It certainly has for me, on both of my channels. But it comes with a 100% Money Back Guarantee, so you really have nothing to lose.
I know, I know. I sound like an infomercial guy, but it’s still true.
How much does it cost?
Tube Toolbox has a free version which you can use, but it’s really pointless other than to let you use some of its features hands on so that you know how it works.
But the free version is extremely limited and only lets you send like 5 friend requests a day so I’d recommend purchasing it (aka. upgrading to pro) and if you’re not satisfied with it, then just ask for your money back.
The prices are as follows:
Account Type | 1-Time Activation Fee | Monthly Fee |
Monthly Account | $19.95 | $9.95 |
Additional Account | $4.95 | $9.95 |
Yearly Account | $19.95 | $79.95 (Annual) |
Lifetime Account | $149.95 | $0 |
I purchased the lifetime account and would recommend you do so as well, as it’s a one-time fee. As long as you own it for 13 months, you’ll save $10 a month each month thereafter.
Let me know your results!
If you get Tube Toolbox, let me know how well it does for you after running it for a month!
I really am amazed with this program and am very happy I bought it.
When I first read the title of the post, I thought that it was yet another April Fools joke. After some reading, I realized that you are indeed serious. I think that Tube Toolbox is a great tool for automating your task of sending friend requests but I am a whitehat guy and this looks grey-hattish.
Tyler checkout this experiment: http://www.youtube.com/elprogramademorfo, this guy is trying to get 50,000 subscribers before he uploads any video, at this time the channel have almost 37,000 subscribers, let me know what you think
Heh, nice.
Yeah, my Movie Vault channel only has 6-7 videos but over 100 subscribers. It’s silly.
Amazing; insanity at its fullest. 0 video uploads and the 38th most subscribed channel in Mexico. How is he able to do this? Tube Toolbox?
Somethings seem to go viral pretty quick. When there is a silly idea on the internet, people usually jump on the train. I am quite sure he will reach the 50K mark!
Haha, that sounds fun. Let’s join that silly youtube channel and race towards 50k subscribers, shall we? Hehe
Hmm it sounds like a pretty neat tool. I don’t publish much on Youtube, but I would guess that you would want subscribers over friends right? It was actually kind of hard to find MoVa’s youtube channel, but I really like the website so I subbed and “liked” it on fb.
I really hope you can grow the site because I do love reading it 🙂
Hi Tayler this is what I like it from your blog. You’re always open with the case study and what tools you’re using. If I’ve a youtube channel, I’ll used Tube Toolbox. I’ll tell my friend to use this one. Thanks!
Tyler,
Thanks for the info. Really hope to grow my site in fast pace like you do and this information could or maybe will help in succeeding it. Gotta test try soon.
Thanks Tyler, definitely going to check out Tube Toolbox. I’ve been wanting to jump into this scene for awhile now.
Wow, this certainly looks like an amazing deal! I wonder if this is what some service providers are using to get their clients more subscribers + friends.
Very cool. thanks for sharing with us.
Wow Tyler this is pretty juicy stuff! I love this type of actionable information where you show an impressive result and then follow up with how you did it. I have some YouTube vids with good rankings in the search engines so they get a good number of views each day however I have very few subscribers or friends on YouTube so this is definately a tool I will be checking out. Thanks for the heads up!
Thanks for the info. I’ll give it a try using a YouTube account with just one video and zero subscribers.
I’ve been doing this manually actually slowly over time and yeah it does work. That software definitely will save time for what its worth.
Just curious why do you show your friends on your channels? Wouldn’t be better to hide those, since you have more friends than subscribers?

woah that is insane! congrats tyler…your posts are worthy of read because you put time into them!
Another case of spammers spamming spammers.
thats a great success you know…
1 month and over 250 subs pretty cool…
Im starting my youtube channel now and definitely gonna take your advices into consideration (:
thanks !
Wow, this post really got my mind crackin!
I guess I need to stop reading here and get back to work and
apply it.
thanks
That is awesome. Sounds like you have youtube on lock. I am interested in seeing what kind of results I can get i have started working on a youtube page but haven’t had time to really mess with it yet.
While the tool walks the whitehat line pretty finely, your results are impressive. More impressive is the guy with ZERO videos and all those subscribers. I’m tempted to subscribe myself to see what he comes up with when he does finally start adding video content.
Tube Toolbox looks really promising! I would love to give it a try and increase my subscribers too. 🙂
Yes It’s look so promising. I think I want to try it.
wow tube toolbox is really a good tool to promote your youtube channel…
Impressive. I guess I should spend more time on YT
Hi tyler, awesome dry run here. To be honest, I haven’t heard of Tube Toolbox. You pointed out each step well plus the graphics you showed us was totally great. I can say its pretty much of a good promotion for video marketing for your website.
interesting info. i have heard of people creating huge followings on youtube, but didn’t realize that there was a software program that automates it. actually i never thought about it and now that i read this post, it makes sense.
i will definitely check it out.
